Code Black Tech was founded in 2021 with a straightforward goal: To help people of color get into tech and build something they could be proud of.
We're not a coding school. We're a workforce development program. That means hands-on, employer-informed training, professional mentorship, career-ready portfolios, and the kind of community support that stays with you past graduation.
And we help employers close the hiring gap by training motivated adults — career changers, parents returning to work, veterans, and professionals ready to upskill — and connecting them with in-demand technology jobs right here in Omaha.

David Pollock, MA
Founder & Executive DirectorMeet Our Founder
David Pollock is a husband, father, and business owner who believes technology should be accessible to everyone — especially the communities that have historically been left out of it. He founded Code Black Tech to help Black and Brown adults not just enter the tech industry, but build real careers and real economic stability within it.
Before launching Code Black Tech, David spent his career in social work and as a college success advisor — coaching, mentoring, and building programs that helped people move forward. He holds a master's degree in Organizational Leadership from Bellevue University, with certifications in IBM Cognitive Analytics and Google app development.
Today he leads Code Black Tech's mission to place 100 people of color into technology careers by 2030, while building the kind of talent pipeline that benefits the entire Omaha community — learners and employers alike.

I started Code Black Tech because I know what it feels like to want more — more meaningful work, more financial stability, more confidence that you're building something that lasts — and not know how to get there.
Before this, I spent years in social work and college advising, coaching, encouraging, and building programs for people ready to move forward. And what I kept seeing was the same thing: incredibly capable people, held back not by lack of ability but by lack of access. The opportunity just wasn't in front of them.
Tech changed that for me. And I knew it could change it for a lot of people in our community.
We're not here to just teach you to pass a test. We're here to make sure you don't leave without something real: hands-on training, personal attention, and a team of people who genuinely want to see you win.
